CarTrade Tech began FY27 with its strongest quarter yet, reporting record quarterly income and broad-based growth across consumer, remarketing and OLX India businesses. Revenue and margins improved year-on-year, while the company kept a debt-free balance sheet and large cash reserves to support expansion.

Financial highlights for Q1 FY27

For the quarter ended June 2026, revenue from operations rose to ₹201.16 crore, up 16.3% year-on-year. Total income reached a record ₹229.74 crore, a 16% increase versus the same period last year.

Operating performance strengthened. EBITDA rose 45% to ₹63 crore, lifting the EBITDA margin to 31%. Adjusted EBITDA was ₹97.5 crore, up 34% year-on-year with a 42% adjusted margin.

Consolidated profit after tax was ₹56.75 crore, about 21% higher than a year ago but lower than the previous quarter’s ₹70.85 crore. The sequential decline reflected a higher effective tax rate, increased employee costs of ₹83.47 crore and a one-time exceptional expense of ₹3.07 crore related to revised labour laws. Other income of ₹28.58 crore partly supported earnings.

The company remained net cash positive, carrying ₹1,321 crore in cash and no debt at quarter end.

Business segment performance and product launches

All segments posted double-digit year-on-year growth. OLX India led with revenue of ₹62.18 crore, up 29%, and EBITDA of ₹18.12 crore, a 76% rise with a 29% operating margin.

The Consumer Group (CarWale, BikeWale, CarTrade) reported ₹78.11 crore revenue, up 18%, and EBITDA of ₹25.86 crore with a 33% margin. Remarketing (Shriram Automall, Adroit Auto) delivered ₹67.23 crore revenue, up 13%, and EBITDA of ₹19.01 crore. The remarketing business targets roughly 225,000 auction volumes in FY27.

Strategic partnerships and product launches included a tie-up with Spinny to list certified used cars on CarWale and OLX India, and two AI-driven tools—VAYA AI for matching buyers and listings and NEW AUTO AI Assist to ease the new-car purchase journey. The Elite Buyer programme crossed 100,000 buyers in a month.

User metrics and shareholder movements

Monthly active users rose to about 80 million from 76 million in the prior quarter, with roughly 95% of traffic from organic search. Mobile apps have surpassed 100 million downloads and the offline footprint exceeds 500 locations, including Shriram Automall centres, CarWale abSure outlets and OLX franchise stores.

During the quarter, foreign institutional investors trimmed holdings while domestic mutual funds and public shareholding increased. Shares fell after results as investors weighed the sequential profit dip and valuation. The company, however, remains positioned to grow its online used-car and classifieds businesses backed by cash reserves and new AI products.
